This is a great sampler of the early jazz pianists of the late 20s and 30s. It swings and the sound is clear. Actually, the CD contains 24 cuts :Earl Hines (A MONDAY DATE and I AINT GOT NOBODY), Duke Ellington (BLACK BEAUTY and SWAMPY RIVER), Teddy Wilson (DON'T BLAME ME and EVERY NOW AND THEN), Meade Lux Lewis (HONKY TONK TRAIN BLUES), Albert Ammons (SHOUT FOR JOY), Count Basie (HOW LONG BLUES and THE DIRTY DOZEN), Billy Kyle (BETWEEN SETS and FINISHING UP A DATE), Fats Waller (HANDDUL OF KEYS and NUMB FUMBLING), Mary Lou Williams (OVERHAND and THE PEARLS), Joe Sullivan (GIN MILL BLUES and ONYX BRINGDOWN), Bix Beiderbecke (IN A MIST), Jess Stacy (IN THE DARK/FLASHES, BARRELLHOUSE and THE WORLD'S WAITING FOR THE SUNRISE), Art Tatum (GONE WITH THE WIND and STORMY WEATHER).
