Product Description
Brilliant debut release from 1996, now available for the first time in the U.S. The best blue-eyed soul voice in many a decade backs up his vocal skills with his own finely crafted R&B songs. Duets with Doris Troy and Van Morrison complete a sublime album of rhythm & soul music.

I really like James Hunter's music. The album "People Gonna Talk" was done later and is more refined (my favorite of his), but "Believe What I Say" is a great album.

I discovered James Hunter through a Van Morrison compilation CD and fell instantly in love!! He is my favorite sound: great R&B spiced lyrics, just enough "mistake makin" and "love thinking" to suit the real feel of
that genuine genre of my favorites like James Brown, Sam Cooke and Otis!! You would swear the guy was a close relative of Ray Charles with a hip edge!! And not to even mention the band..WOW.. SEXY,SEXY, SEXY!
These guys nail it and if you love a great sax sound you will be addicted like me!!!!!!!!!!!

If you loved his first album, you may find this sophomore effort a bit of a ho hum. Doesn't have the edge of the first one.

When I first heard the song "Carina" on the Beach Music Radio Show, I knew I wanted this song. Not only does James Hunter have a rhythm and sound all of his own, which I throughly enjoy; he also reminds me of the Fifties music. I also like "Jacqueline"...the words and tunes of both of these songs just keeps running through my mine....I have now bought three of his CD's: The Hard Way, People Gonna Talk, and Believe What I Say.. and we love all three. Enjoy, Irene

This is pure blues and jazz and a lotta soul. If you are a lover of any of these genre or all of them get this album. I swear he is channelling a very famous singer from the sixties. See if you can guess which one. I, myself need to get his other two albums. I am also glad I saw him as an opening act for Chris Isaak. The best double bill I have ever attended. See him, hear him and buy this album. You will not be disappointed.
